This means gays are not considered the same with women, the disabled, or racial minority, or they are different. They set their own rules and practice their own rights. Autonomy is giving oneself his right to rule. Autonomy is being applied to other fields of studies like medicine, politics, philosophy and moral studies. In politics, if one wants to be autonomous, then he or she should not be supervised by the government. Autonomy means independence from any higher power. Most autonomous regions in the world are made of the Muslim population. In the field of medicine, however, autonomy is obtained by a patient in which the decision to perform a delicate procedure on him is a choice for him to make. Autonomy in the medicine industry comes in during life-and-death situations. A patient is granted autonomy to decide what he thinks he deserves best. He is made to decide for his own life. Minor patients are not granted autonomy yet, which is why the parents or guardians do the decision-making for the patient. (James, 2000, p. 43). Usually, when autonomy is taken in a philosophical or moral perspective, a man is naturally put into a dilemma where he is against himself. There are rational and un-coerced decisions which he has to make. How does autonomy help in human motivation? Take for example the Muslim rebels who are experiencing autonomy not just from a country but probably from the world. They are pretty much determined to fight for their right and their land. Too bad it has caused plenty of lives. Likewise, autonomy helps a person stick to his goal. It serves as a guide for him to accomplish whatever it is that he intends to do. There are some key reasons that show that why it is so important to have an effective communication with children and families:- A positive relationship between children and their families is vital for the youngs childrens well being Parents are the kids first teacher, they learn from them only Parents behavior as in what do they follow at home with their young babies and children has a major impact on intellectual, social and emotional development Better relationships amongst children and parents are achieved through better communication only A clear and thorough communication or talk can omit all the misunderstandings and the possible barriers. These barriers take shape according to the situations and places such as at a societal level, Brandt (1998) notes that the parents or people in general are becoming increasingly estranged from public institutions. Sometimes it is actually very problematic and hard to reach families. To solve this problem, first of all make a note about who are the families that you think may find it hard to reach and communicate with services? Then spend time with them discussing different issues faced while establishing effective communication between parents and children. These families may have characteristics as follows: Different cultural backgrounds English as an additional language Different family backgrounds Different personalities Lack of confidence and self esteem Learning difficulties Literacy skills Physical difficulties Psychological difficulties All these characteristics act differently during the establishment of effective communication between parents and children. For example, sometimes parents cannot cope up with the changing trend and thus the gap of understanding between their cultural preferences and the children cultural preferences widens. Also, if the practitioners use ââ¬Å"their own cultural lensesâ⬠to interact with culturally and linguistically diverse parents, there occurs a problem. Lets take another example regarding psychological difficulties. On a parental level, a parentââ¬â¢s own negative school experiences may impact positive relationships with teachers, or parents may simply not understand how to effectively interact with the children regarding their educational system. Similarly, economic, time constraints, lack of technology may also be primary obstacles to effective communication. All these barriers and challenges may be eliminated with a traditional yet significant 5-15 minute parent conference that offers little time for meaningful communication regarding a childââ¬â¢s academic and social progress. This can be act as an open platform for interaction within practitioners, parents and children. (NCB, 2008) Answer to Question 4 Reflect on the importance of enabling positive environments to promote communication between children, families and professionals For establishing an effective communication between professionals, parents and children, it is extremely vital to create a positive environment for the communication to take place. As a professional, you soon learn that children and parents are a two-for-one deal: Developing confident relationships with parents is precarious for providing the best care possible to their children. So being friends with the parents help a lot here. To ensure the same, as a parent, you can test it. For example, Amanda got into her car, really angry. When she dropped off her 22-month-old, Nyra, that morning, she mentioned to the baby sitter and her friend, Reeta (who look after Nyra), how impossible Nyra has been in the mornings. She drags her feet, doesnt want to get dressed, pitches a fit about which outfit to wearââ¬âits been practically impossible to get her out the door. Answer to Question 5 Importance and role of intervention strategies, approaches and techniques supporting the development of effective communication In developing effective communication between parents and children, supporting intervention strategies, approaches and techniques act as major helping factors. What is intervention strategy? According to Desforges (2003), in the intervention strategy, effective settings consider what the major barriers are for their own communities and work proactively to remove them. The strategy involves Establishing formal and casual relationships with families and children Knowing the families in a much detailed and better way but not intervening somehow is a thing to keep in mind Talking and discussing about the needs and expectations of families Offering a good range of options and choices for involvement and participation in the learning process that are truly match with the family colors Observe and observe the knowledge and understanding level of the parents, value them and try to enhance the same incorporating different techniques Now, what are techniques? Womens Right to Vote :: American America History
Women's Right to Vote After reading Francis Parkman's article, "Women Are Unfit to Vote", I found myself both offended and annoyed. His arguments were not only shaky, but they were also illogical. He states that the family has been the political unit; consequently, the head of the family should be the political representative. He goes on by stating that women have shared imperfectly in the traditions and not in the practice of self-government. Lastly, he suggests women might vote that men should go off and fight in war. Not only are these statements wrong, but they are very much so offensive. Women are humans, too, and they should be treated how a man is treated. We are, after all, of an equal race, so why do we women not get the right to vote? In my opinion,this question cannot be answered logically. Many reasons can contradict Parkman's statements included in his article, and I plan to do so. To start with, Parkman declares that "the family, and not the individual, has been the political unit, and the head of the family... has been the political representative of the rest." He is saying that the men are the head of the family; therefore, they should be the ones that vote. But what if the head of the family is a woman? Let's say, for example, the husband dies unexpectedly, leaving the woman behind to raise the children and take the position as head of the family. Does she then get the right to vote? Or do we simply deny her that right because she is a woman? According to Francis Parkman, the head of the family is the political representative, and no where in that statement did he once specify the head of the family could not be a woman. Therefore, as long as the woman is the head of the family, they should be granted the right to vote. Many circumstances in one's life may cause them to become, without notice, the head of their family. As quick as they become the new head, they should then be allowed to vote just as quickly. If they are denied that right, then Parkman's statement is false. The head of the family should not be limited to just being a man, and neither should the right to vote. Parkman follows by commenting that "they [women] have shared very imperfectly in the traditions, and not at all in the practice of self-government.
